Transport Operations Manager

Our client is a leading locally owned transport company who have been servicing not only the Ballarat and Western Victorian region but also an Australian wide market for decades. They have developed a reputation for transporting a wide variety of goods to their clients efficiently, safely and on time resulting in a number of long term partnerships.

On behalf of our valued client, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their team on a full time permanent basis.

This highly challenging but rewarding position will see the successful applicant lead a team of up to 20 drivers and liaise closely with a number of key clients.

In addition, day to day responsibilities will include;

• Coordinating and scheduling day to day operations of drivers runs and weekly work schedules
• Deliver driver debriefs, OHS reporting and incident management
• Assist with the coordination of compliance measures including mass and fatigue management along with vehicle maintenance
• Lead high level of customer service within the team
• Assist with recruitment, training and overall management of drivers with a focus on continuous improvement and retention
• Manage warehouse stock movements
• General administrative duties as required

Key qualifications and attributes include:

• Experience in an operations management or scheduling role
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and manage many competing priorities.
• Be a clear and strong communicator with an ability to accurately forecast workloads
• Strong problem solving ability.
• Commitment to safety, quality and customer satisfaction.
• Show diligence and accuracy in work with a "measure twice, cut once approach"
• Intermediate Excel and Word experience
• Willingness to respond to internal and external stakeholders calls out of hours as required
