Our Client in Melbourn'e Eastern Suburbs are looking for a Maintenance Fitter. The Maintenance Fitter role is responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure smooth and efficient operations in a manufacturing or industrial environment. This role involves troubleshooting mechanical issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform scheduled and reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, conveyors, compressors, and other plant machinery.
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems, identify faults, and implement effective repairs.
- Fabricate and modify mechanical components, structures, and fittings as required using various tools and machines (lathe, milling machine, welding, etc.).
Preventive Maintenance:
Conduct regular inspections, lubrication, and adjustments to machinery and equipment to prevent breakdowns.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
- Follow a preventive maintenance schedule and contribute to the development of future schedules.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure that all maintenance work complies with relevant industry regulations, standards, and company procedures.
- Participate in risk assessments and contribute to creating a safe working environment.
- Ensure that maintenance tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
- Work closely with engineers and other maintenance personnel to improve operational efficiency.
Continuous Improvement:
- Recommend improvements to existing equipment and systems for increased reliability, productivity, and safety.
- Participate in training and development activities to keep up with industry trends and new technologies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Essential:
- Relevant trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting or equivalent (e.g., Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade).
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Fitter in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
- Proficient in using mechanical tools, welding, and fabrication techniques.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Sound understanding of health and safety regulations in an industrial setting.
Desirable:
- Forklift and/or crane license.
- Experience with PLCs or automation systems
- Welding or fabrication certifications.
